LEGAL REQUIREMENTS:
A Valid form of identification with a photograph such as a drivers license, state-issued identification or passport. Non U.S. citizens will need their passports.
PUERTO RICO (AS OF SEPTEMBER 10, 2010) NO LONGER REQUIRES LAB WORK FOR NON-RESIDENTS OF PUERTO RICO. WE WILL ADVISE YOU OF THE DOCUMENTATION THAT YOU WILL NOW NEED.
The marriage license validation is taken care of by Tropical Weddings upon your arrival in Puerto Rico. You will be escorted to the Demographic Registry office to validate the license, with all necessary paperwork and the $20 application fee. You will leave the Registry Office with your marriage certificate in hand.
You will also need copies of your Birth Certificates and Divorce Decress if applicable.
A residency requirement is not needed in Puerto Rico so how many days you stay in Puerto Rico prior to the ceremony is up to you, keep in mind however, that we will need at least four hours in order to run the above errands. These errands can be done (in the San Juan area) on non-holidays from Monday through Friday from 8 am to 7 pm and Saturday and Sundays from 8 am to 12 noon. Outside the San Juan area we will notify of the hours. If your flight arrives later then 10:30 am on the weekend, then you would need to come in the day before in order to complete your errands in time. Anyone under the age of 21 will need a sworn affidavit from their legal guardian giving them permission to be married.
Officiants are available to perform civil ceremonies. Catholic, Episcopalian, Baptist, Jewish and interdenominational officiates are also available upon request. Each religion will have its own set of requirements of which we will advise. Prices will vary.
